BOREALIS 07 CELEBRATES KAIJA SAARIAHO AND LUIGI NONO
Borealis 2007 celebrates Luigi Nono (1924-1990) from Venice and Kaija Saariaho from Helsinki but living in Paris. The latter will be present during the festival through masterclasses and other apperances. Luigi Nono's widow Nuria Schoenberg Nono on behalf of the Luigi Nono-archive in Venice will present an exhibition on Nono. She will also give a concert-lecture together with the Nono-specialized German pianist Stefan Litwin.With the great help from both Kaija Saariaho and Nuria Schoenberg Nono several of the best performers of their music internationally will be present in Bergen: Nono's soundengineer Alvise Vidolin, the violaplayer and former Arditti Quartet-member Garth Knox, the Saariaho-expert and flutist Camilla Hoitenga, the Saariaho-expert and cellist Anssi Karttunen, the Danish Radiochoir conducted by Fredrik Malmberg, Cikada Quartet, the French multimedia-artist Jean Baptiste Barriere, the BIT20 Ensemble, Bergen Philarmonic Orchestra and many others.
