Jessie Marino

Jessie Marino er en komponist, utøver og mediakunstner fra New York, nå bosatt i Roma. Hun var med å stifte den eksperimentelle performanceduoen ON STRUCTURE, og jobber som komponist, cellist og som en av de kunstneriske lederne for komponist- og utøverkollektivet Ensemble Pamplemousse. Hun har nylig skrevet verk for blant annet Darmstadt Summer Course, G((o))ng Tomorrow, Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival og We Spoke Percussion. Hun har vært Artist in Residence på Headlands-stiftelsen for kunst i California, og i 2018 fikk Jessie Rome Prize Fellowship i musikkomposisjon fra det amerikanske akademiet i Roma. Jessie har tatt del i Borealis flere ganger som både utøver og komponist, og i 2019 presenteres et nytt verk av henne med det danske ensemblet SCENATET og Constantin Basica.

Jessie Marino is the co-founder of the experimental performance duo ON STRUCTURE and is co-artistic director, composer, and cellist for the composer-performer collective Ensemble Pamplemousse. Jessie's work has recently been commissioned by Darmstadt Summer Course (DE), Borealis (NO), G((o))ng Tomorrow (DK), Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival (UK), Transit Festival (BE), SPOR Festival (DK), TAK Ensemble, SCENATET, and We Spoke Percussion. She was an Artist in Residence at the Headlands Foundation for the Arts (CA) and in 2018 Jessie was awarded a Rome Prize Fellowship in Music Composition at the American Academy in Rome. Jessie has taken part in Borealis many times before both as performer and composer, and in 2019 her new piece in collaboration with SCENATET and Constantin Basica will be presented at the festival.
