OPENING: BANKS VIOLETTE EXHIBITION

at 1900
Venue: BERGEN KUNSTHALL

The Skeleton of a burned stave church. The shrill buzzing of a distorted guitar. As the viewer approaches the stave formations the buzzing intensifies. Or: A mammoth heavy metal drum kit stands alone in a gallery. Black, demonic fang teeth replace the drums. Or: Picture the entire stage set of drone metal artists Sunn 0))) layered in salt.

These are some examples of installations made by the young New York artist Banks Violette – this years festival exhibitor. A dark palette, death metal, ritual murder and teenage suicide are starting points for Banks Violette. His work is featured in several prominent collections, among others in Saatchi and Whitney Gallery.

The Borealis Festival has commissioned an installation to be presented in Bergen Kunsthall, no. 5.
