This event takes as its starting point the relationship that has existed throughout the ages between man and horse: farming, transportation, war, sports, and mythology. The sound of horses has been a steadfast soundtrack to man’s daily life: hooves against stones and the creaking of reins.
In the spring of 2008, school children from Haukås School in Åsane participated in a project to record sounds from the Bergen Racetrack which were then used to stage a mini-concert for both children and horses. This material will now be used by John Hegre, Amund Sjøli Sveen and Espen Sommer Eide to create the Bergen Electronic Racetrack. The event will be launched with a celebration of military and brass band occasional music, featuring The Norwegian Military Band Bergen and friends.
Horses will be racing!
The concert is a collaboration between Borealis, FMKV and Bergen Racetrack, and has received funding from the Norwegian Arts Council and Åsane Office of Culture.
