POW! TAP! HOP!

The POW Ensemble presents a dazzling show in which energetic tap dance, bizarre texts, saxophone madness, scratching, sparkling improvisations, soundscapes, noise, jazz tunes and disordering love songs melt together. The computer plays the role of mediator between all these elements, sometimes merging them together, and occasionally colliding them with each other, leading to original and often surprising combinations. The texts are by poets such as Robert Fillou or Muddy Waters, collages of “found texts” such as newspaper articles, or completely
new words written by ensemble members.

The POW ensemble uses computer music as a potent artistic ambassador, moving among a variety of musical traditions and crossing numerous cultural boundaries. The music is made up of sounds both familiar and unexpected: blues and jazz played by 21st century instruments!
