WORKSHOP SOUNDPAINTING

WORKSHOP SOUNDPAINTING

at 1000
Venue: Bergen Public Library

SOUNDPAINTING is a composition/conducting language created and developed by the New York composer Walter Thompson for instrumentalists, dancers, actors, poets and visual artists who work within the field of structured improvisation. At present the language comprises more than 750 gestures that are signed by the composer/conductor in order to indicate the kind of improvisation he or she wishes from the performers. The structure of the compositions is achieved through the parameters that each set of gestures consists of. Soundpainting is composition in real time.

In the course of the workshop the participants will go through the most often used Soundpainting gestures in preparation for a performance in which anything can – and will – happen.

This event is open to the public, with instruments provided. No previous musical experience needed.
