Borealis is a festival for experimental music taking place over 5 days in Bergen every year. We’re a small organisation growing bigger as the festival approaches and we’re now looking for interns that want experience with the different aspects of making a music festival. We’re looking for interns that can work in close collaboration with our Head’s of Communication, Production and Volunteer Coordination. 

We’re looking for people who are interested in music, art, theater and other artistic expressions, and who are looking for experience in cultural work and festival production. Are you keen on making a festival that takes good care of both its artists and audiences? There are a lot of different taks that need solving for Borealis to happen and as an intern you get a diverse experience in the different areas of festival production.

We’re looking for a person who will be working closely with our Head of Communication in presenting the festival to press and audiences through different channels. You have to be interested in working with text be precise and structured and be able to write in both English and Norwegian. It’s also important to have good computer skills and to be keen and able to learn how to use new digital tools. Experience with picture editing and simple graphic design skills is an advantage. The communication intern also works on planning and executing Borealis’ Delegate Programme from booking tickets to being a host and point of contact for the delegates when they’re in Bergen.   


We’re looking for a person who wants to get an insight into the practical and technical part of festival production and who can work closely with our Head of Production in addition to taking on smaller projects independently. We’re especially looking for someone who in close collaboration with our Head of Production can coordinate our mentor programme Borealis Ung Komponist throughout the autumn moving up to the festival in March 2021. You have to have a good technical understanding, have good computer skills and be practical in addition to being structured and up for a challenge. 

Volunteer coordination

For the volunteer team we’re looking for a person who loves working with people! You’ll be working closely with our Volunteer Coordinator and get to know the whole process from recruitment to coordination and managing the volunteers. Big parts of the job is to motivate, communicate, include and organise 100 volunteers at the festival. We’re very proud of our amazing and friendly volunteers and put a lot of work into making sure they feel cared for. 

Practical Information

Internship period: 21.09.20–02.04.21
Working hours: 2 days a week. Working weekends and late hours will be required from time to time.
Internship allowance: NOK 20 000

You’ll get to work closely with the Borealis staff, but also have space to work independently on smaller projects. You’ll have invaluable experience in festival making and cultural work.
