Opening Concert: Safe&Weird
David José Longa Mendoza is a composer and orchestrator born in Caracas, Venezuela and based in Austria. He began his music studies at Nucleo la Rinconada – one of the music schools of El Sistema founded by José Antonio Abreu. He studied composition at the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz and Music for Applied Media at Danube University Krems. David has participated as a composer in numerous festivals and in various interdisciplinary projects as well as initiating his own projects. His music is inspired by contemporary music in styles ranging from atonal to electronic, including music for video and sound design. Tau eines verwirrten Morgens is written for brass orchestra, where a range of sound colours are explored, provoking a brief tension where an attempt is made to express a state of confusion in sound form.
