Tord Kalvenes

Tord Kalvenes is educated with a master degree in musicology at Oslo University. He has also studied composition and conducting at The Norwegian Academy of Music. As a composer Kalvenes has collaborated with several ensembles, mainly in church music and vocal music. Tord was in 2020 nominated for Work of the Year at Musikkforleggerprisen with his mass Missa De Lumine, premiered by Bergen Domkor at Festspillene 2019. In 2017 Tord started the vocal ensemble Tabula Rasa, a Bergen based ensemble working with conceptual productions, improvisation and modern expressions. Tord uses a range of approaches for notation and lets himself inspire by musicians' abilities and interests in the musical writing process.
