Ruth Bakke was born in Bergen and works as a composer, organist and choir conductor. She did her studies in music in the US during the 60s and 70s. Since 1972 Ruth has worked as an organist and choir conductor in Bergen. She worked in Storetveit Church for 45 years, which is where she and Anne Marthe Dyvi were performing their collaboration project at Borealis last year. A central part of her compositions is her focus on colour and rhythm, which titles like Illuminations and Chromocumuli can indicate. Ruth has composed a great amount of church and chamber music, has worked with multimedia and symphony orchestras and has taught composition at the Grieg Academy in Bergen.
