Else Olsen S. is a Norwegian composer, musician and teaching artist. She is educated from The Norwegian Academy of Music and through studies with the American composers Pauline Oliveros and Christian Wolff. Her work is experimental, mixing genres such as Norwegian chapel house music and folk music. Her practice can be recognized by the use of extended instrumental techniques, toy instruments and prepared piano. In 2015 she finalized her doctorate, which carries the title Open Form – An Expanded Performer's Role. The project is about the interpretation and performance of works with unconventional notation, such as text or graphic scores, which also resembles her own way of writing music.
