Kate Molleson

Kate Molleson is a journalist and broadcaster based in Edinburgh. She hosts BBC Radio 3’s New Music Show and Music Matters. Her articles appear in The Guardian, the New Statesman, Prospect and elsewhere. Her book Sound Within Sound – a radical history of composers in the 20th century was published by Faber & Faber in 2022 to widespread acclaim. Kate grew up in various parts of Scotland and the north of Canada. She studied clarinet performance at McGill University in Montreal and musicology at King’s College in London, then worked as a music critic and columnist for the Montreal Gazette and deputy editor of Opera Magazine, before becoming The Guardian's classical music critic in 2010.
