Signe Emmeluth – ALT
Signe Emmeluth is a Danish saxophone player, composer and improviser currently based in Oslo. In recent years she has marked herself as an increasingly important voice on the scene for improvised music in Scandinavia through her own band Emmeluth’s Amoeba and when playing solo. "Signe Emmeluth once again proves to be one of the most original and vibrant voices in the Nordic scene. Provocative, mind-blowing, and emotionally engaging." With a sharp and unique tone her music is easily recognised. Melodies with rapidly changing octaves and shifts between the naive and playful to brutal primal screams are some of what make up Signe Emmeluth’s vocabulary. Most recently she received the prestigious JazZtipendiat 20/21 and premiered the work Physicality in/emotion for Trondheim Jazz Orchestra at Moldejazz 2021. In 2022 she premiered her commission work Banshee at Vossa Jazz and she's been collaborating with Mats Gustafsson, Kresten Osgood and Paal Nilssen-Love among others. She is often to be seen as part of different versions of Trondheim Jazz Orchestra and Gard Nilssen’s Supersonic Orchestra.
