Sara Røisland Torsvik

Sara Røisland Torsvik is a dancer and choreographer. She graduated as a Contemporary Dancer from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London, and was an apprentice at the British-Canadian SQx Dance Company in Canada. As a performer, Sara has worked with companies and dance artists such as Lizzi Kew-Ross & Co and Grace Keeble. In 2019, she established SART Kompani for contemporary dance. The dance company explores existential themes, such as absolute presence, identity and (bodily) memories, and seeks real, unrefined expression. Sara is also co-founder of Kvinnereller performing arts company in collaboration with Brita Grov. In recent years, she has spent a lot of time in Colombia exploring and acquiring the methodology El Cuerpo Que Crea (the body that creates) under the direction of Carlos Ramírez. This methodology is used in one of her latest pieces: We Who Are Not You – a project in collaboration with David Alræk, co-produced by dance company Carte Blanche.
