Selvhenter has forged a unique approach to making music that starts with their instrumental setup: two drummers that interlock as frequently as they go their own ways, a trombone put through a bass amplifier loud enough to rattle your chest, and a saxophone churned through a range of effects often to the point of the unrecognisable. The four members Jaleh Negari, Anja Jacobsen, Sonja LaBianca and Maria Bertel have since forming the group in Copenhagen in 2010 created a music that is highly collective and results in a strikingly direct total sound where an improvised free jazz approach collides with experimental electronic music and avant-garde noise and post-punk sonorities.
