Sondre Närva Pettersen

Sondre Närva Pettersen is a Norwegian-Sámi composer, musician and joiker with roots in Moskavuotna – the Coastal Sámi, Norwegian and Kven area outside Tromsø/Romssa. He lives in Bergen, where he completed his master's degree in Joik and Sustainability from a Sami Perspective at the University of Bergen. Sondre is trained as a jazz vocalist from the jazz programme in Trondheim, and he currently teaches at the Grieg Academy’s Young Talents Programme. He has contributed in various projects within music and performing arts, at institutions like Riksteateret, Det Norske Teateret, Trøndelag Teater and Hålogaland Teater. He received the Hedda Award for Best Children and Youth Production with Hundre Hemmeligheter, and he was part of Mimmi Tamba's album Semper Eadem which was nominated for the Norwegian Grammy Award. He has also released two albums with the band DRØM where he is both composer and vocalist.
