Benedicte Maurseth is a Hardanger fiddle player, composer, writer, and a prize-winning and acclaimed performer. She studied under master fiddler Knut Hamre for several decades, with the traditional music of Hardanger as her specialty. Maurseth has toured extensively as a soloist in Norway and internationally, collaborating with leading artists across musical genres and artistic disciplines, including theater, contemporary, and improvised music, such as Jon Fosse, Anne Marit Jacobsen, Nils Økland, and Knut Hamre.
She has also composed numerous commissioned works for ensembles and organizations including Kronos Quartet, Prague Music Ensemble, Ensemble noN, Marvel Studios, the National Theatre, as well as for various TV and film productions.
