Laura M. Beer Kumwenda is a contemporary performer, violist, hardanger fiddle and viola d’amore player living in Oslo. On these instruments, she explores extended techniques through existing solo repertoire, free improvisation and in collaboration with composers. As a founding member of Ensemble LIME, Laura also has extensive experience in microtonal new music
Laura likes working in projects that utilise performative or otherwise surprisingly incongruous elements. She is currently working on placing the viola d’amore and hardanger fiddle in new musical contexts outside of respectively Baroque music and Norwegian folk music.
