Lisa Dillan is an improvising vocalist, performance artist, composer, and Associate Professor of Improvisation at the Norwegian Academy of Music, where she has taught since 2001. Her main projects span improvised music, jazz, contemporary music, the Elvis songbook, intermedial improvisation, and composition. Since 1997, Lisa has worked on cross-disciplinary projects in a field combining improvisation, composition, sound, movement, video, and light. She has composed several commissioned works and interdisciplinary pieces that integrate her own choreography, movement, and composition.
Lisa has performed leading roles in contemporary opera and theatre, and alongside her musical career she has also worked within performance and in projects that intersect activism and art.
Her discography includes 12 recordings, among them five signature releases ranging from experimental improvised solo voice to interpretations of Elvis songs performed together with Elvis’ own band. She has created several video works, artistic research projects, and articles. Lisa has toured in Japan, the United States, China, Russia, the Netherlands, Germany, England, Spain, France, Finland, Denmark, Sweden, and Norway.
