Matteo Fargion

Matteo Fargion is a composer, performer, and teacher. His eclectic work embraces the handmade and the small scale. He is known both for his long-standing collaboration with choreographer Jonathan Burrows and for the music he continues to create for concerts, theatre, and dance performances. Uniquely, he began not only to accompany dance with his music but to become part of it, influencing a new generation of composers drawn to performance work. His pioneering composition workshops for dancers have become legendary, further blurring the boundaries between music and dance.

Fargion tours and teaches widely with Burrows, developing new forms of performance collaboration. He also creates and performs with acclaimed Norwegian artists such as Mette Edvardsen and Penelope Sleeps. With Andrea Spreafico, he has created Vive la Phrance, Bad Dante Bad English Bad Opera, Durante and the Bad Loves, Good Morning Milton Keynes, and Mario & Raoul.
