Rosanna Lorenzen is a cellist, improviser, and composer.

With the cello as her central voice and improvisation as her inner compass, she creates unpredictable soundscapes in constant transformation, exploring its possibilities with a playful and open approach, both acoustically and through electronic manipulation.

In her solo project rosyán, she delves into the many layers of her instrument—crafting atmospheric textures that move from fragile, delicate moments to raw, massive sonic layers, rhythmic patterns, and noise dissolving into silence. Voice and field recordings are occasionally woven into the sound, expanding its narrative, while she continuously balances between free improvisation and composed elements.

Lorenzen works and collaborates across genres, with both musicians and visual artists. She has performed in a wide range of settings—from sound wells in Frederiksberg, on a bass-vibrating floor, in a dome in Berlin, sleep concerts, and a Swedish oil tank with 25-second reverberation, to a variety of venues and festivals.
