Thorolf Thuestad

Thorolf Thuestad is a sound artist, sound engineer, composer, sound-designer and kinetic sculptor. He studied music technology and composition at the University of Trondheim, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and at the Utrecht School of Arts. Thuestad was awarded a PhD from The University of Bergen, Grieg Academy with the research project Emotional machines - composing for unstable media, and is currently engaged as a postdoctoral researcher at the Research Institute at The University of the Arts Helsinki.
As an artist he has worked extensively within stage arts, contemporary music, composition and film music. In addition to his own projects notable collaborators include Verdensteateret, Transiteateret, Bit20 ensemble and Ursus productions. He has been part of productions receiving multiple Hedda Awards, a Theatre Critics award, a Gabler award as well as Gullsekken, and has been awarded the Norwegian Arts Council one-year artist’s stipend three times.

Thuestad runs and is the co-founder of Neither Nor productions with Alwynne Pritchard and is a member of Bit20 Ensemble.
