Zofia Jakubiec is a dancer, fashion, and costume designer, holding a Master’s degree in Design from the Oslo National Academy of the Arts and a Master’s degree in Fine Arts from the University of Fine Arts in Poznan, Poland. Her work explores new definitions of costume and how it can relate to space, choreography, and the body. She is particularly interested in the relationship between movement and materiality, as well as in different ways of approaching choreography through costume design.
Jakubiec has extensive experience as both a dancer and designer, with a background at the Polish Dance Theatre, Butoh Encounters, and various independent projects in Poland and Norway. Her fashion designs have been worn by artists such as Imogen Heap and Totemo. She has served as costume designer for several productions in Norway and was nominated for the Heddaprisen in 2022, alongside scenographers Baum & Leahy and Anikke Flo, for Best Scenography and Costume Design for KinShips. She has represented Norway in the international group exhibition Innovative Costume of The 21st Century: The Next Generation in Moscow and participated in Costume Agency Research Workshops led by Christina Lindgren and Sodja Lotker at KHiO.
