17 September Borealis participates in the symposium Islands On The Move at Ultima Oslo Contemporary Music Festival together with lots of amazing national and international collaegues.

11 September between 12.00–15.00 CET we’ll be in Bergen Public Library, in UROM on the 2nd floor. Together with you we’ll be collecting inspirationa and material for Marshall Trammell’s project Warrior Ethos/Warrior Ecologies. We ask you to find an image that makes you feel welcome here in Bergen. It’s easy to take part, free of charge and can take up as little (or much) of your time as you like. Marshall will be joining us via Zoom from his home in Oakland, California.
The next couple of months offer up some amazing cultural happenings here in Bergen. We recommend you check out the programme of our friends at the EKKO Festival, the international theatre festival Meteor and film festival BIFF.

New to the season is that we will give our taste buds an experience too, and for each BLC we invite food enthusiasts in Bergen to create a tiny edible experiment to spice up the listening.
This autumn sees new additions to our little team and an expansion of an existing position. It’s a true joy to have Émilie Fanor-Fontaine, Andrea Lopez Robles and Runa Halleraker with us and to see our team member Abigael Asgedom take on new and challenging tasks. The four of them have backgrounds in art, film production, social work and event management and will be lifting Borealis to new hights.

Borealis Listening Club (BLC) is back! Welcome to a new season with music and sounds of all genres, reflections from a range of perspectives, popcorn, fun sodas and listening in Studio 207 in Strandgaten and Online! Come join us for the season startup on Wednesday 25th of August and bring your friends! Listening host Peter Meanwell has the playlist ready for the first gathering, with music from the American singer songwriter Beverly Glenn-Copeland. In 1986 Glenn-Copeland released the legendary album “Keyboard Fantasies”, which in 2021 was re-released with remixes of the tracks. We are going to listen to the opening track on this new record, with the artist Kelsey Lu. Kelsey Lu is an American singer and classically trained cellist who works in the realms of electronics, pop and R&B.
New to the season is that we will give our taste buds an experience too, and for each BLC we invite food enthusiasts in Bergen to create a tiny edible experiment to spice up the listening. To kickstart our tastebuds we have got together with the fantastic bakery in Marken; Solros! They will deliver pastries with miso caramel to all the adventurous listeners of the first get-together of the season. This year’s BLC welcomes everyone who is physically present in Bergen, but also those who wants to listen in from home. Come join us in Studio 207 or Online!

It’s an absolute joy to announce the 4 new participants of our Mentor Programme Borealis Ung Komponist: Mirsaeed Hosseiny Panah, Astrid Solberg, Peder Niilas Tårnesvik and Karoline Wallace! All four are both performers and composers and between them they master jazz vocals, cello, santur and electronics. We can’t wait to follow them as they compose music for vocal ensemble TABULA RASA which premieres at Borealis in March 2022.
Borealis is looking for a dedicated, creative and solution oriented producer in a 50% position to join our little team in making an amazing festival in March and events throughout the year.

We are looking for new music creators who want to participate in the mentor programme Borealis Ung Komponist in 2021/22. This year’s fantastic mentor team is a collection of internationally renowned performers, composers and artists in Norway: Harpreet Bansal, Camille Norment, Johan Sara Jr. & Øyvind Torvund! This year’s participants will work with and write music for the vocal ensemble TABULA RASA. The application deadline is June 1!
