Bring the whole family for an afternoon of sonic experimentation for all ages at the BEK – Bergen Centre for Electronic Arts in Nordnes! Featuring workshops from festival artists and drop-in hands on sound play, the afternoon is open for all. Even if you’re not taking part in a workshop there’s plenty of room for colouring and space to roll around for the smallest, and lots of coffee and waffles for those who need it. Stop by BEK to explore the universes of sounds at our fingertips.
Build your own Juoigganas with Issát Sámmol
Come and learn how to build the string intrument juoigganas, specially designed to fit the tonal scale of the traditional Sámi joik. Musician and joiker Issát Sámmol from Máze will be your guide, as you build your own instrument from scratch, and learn about joik and Sámi culture along the way.
Touched by Sound
Explore the sound worlds of legendary instrument maker Michel Waisvisz through his hands-on tactile synthesisers. Whether it’s through paint that you touch to active sounds, or hands on synthesisers such as the Crackle Box that are pressure sensitive, these instruments are perfect for small hands to explore experimental sound worlds. Close by will be artist and instrument builder Boris Shershenkov to explain to curious minds how it all works, and Bergen based artist and musician Karina Sletten to activate the instruments in half hourly concerts!
