Borealis Talks x Varmere Våtere Villere: Resisting Extractivism

How do knowledge, activism, and art come together in Sápmi and Northern Norway? Researcher and cultural worker Eva Maria Fjellheim leads a conversation with festival artists Risten Anine Gaup, Elin Már Øyen Vister, and Tale Ness. Together, they will highlight the struggles that are most urgent in Sápmi today and explore how these challenges can be addressed through diverse artistic practices and forms of expression.
Fjellheim is currently exploring transformative spaces at the crossroads of academia, politics and art. Her PhD research focused on green colonialism and resistance to the wind energy industry on Saami reindeer herding lands, and she is a founding member of the Elsa Laula Renberg Institute (ELRI) a nomadic, autonomous and performative research intervention founded as part of the Fosen action protests in 2024.

Presented in collaboration with Varmere Våtere Villere.
