ما به هم می رسیم | we reach each other is an exhibition at Lydgalleriet by Borealis Artist in Residence Jaleh Negari, closely connected to her concert Earthly Bonds at Bergen Kjøtt. The exhibition invites viewers into the visual and spatial dimensions of Negari’s practice, offering a distinct yet connected perspective on the themes explored in Earthly Bonds.

While the concert brings the work to life through live performance, sound, and woven textiles, the exhibition allows the same reflections on migration, memory, linguistic confusion, and cultural fragmentation to unfold at a contemplative pace. It gives viewers the opportunity to engage with the work in an intimate gallery setting, experiencing the ideas that shape Negari’s project through visual and spatial forms.

Negari’s interest in interdisciplinary practice results in a richly layered work, where graphic scores, patterned compositions, and multichannel sound pieces come together to create an immersive environment. These visual and sonic elements together form a larger narrative that reflects moments of translation, reassembly, and the ongoing processes through which identity and memory are formed.

ما به هم می رسیم | we reach each and the concert Earthly Bonds are two complementary manifestations of the same inquiry: how do you narrate a deeply personal story of coming to know your own identity – when it is formed through multilayered exchanges of meanings, forms, and memories, where fragments slide apart, cross, and occasionally find new ways of meeting? While music forms the core of the project, the visual and spatial elements illuminate its concepts in new ways. Together, they invite engagement with displacement, memory, and relational bonds in ways that are both intimate and profound.

The textile piece presented in the exhibition is designed by Jaleh Negari and made by weaver Mille Ahrenkiel.
