Tickets can be purchased here or at the door for each event depending on capacity.
There is limited capacity for some events, and we recommend everyone buy a ticket in advance to secure a spot. We accept Vipps at the door, and Vipps and card online.
TICKET TYPES:
This year we offer you Borealis Pass and Borealis Klippekort (Click Card) as well as Single tickets.
When buying a Borealis Pass you’ll receive a promo code that gives you access to all single tickets for our events for only NOK 50. This is the perfect option for those who wants the full festival experience!
Borealis Klippekort gives you 3 events at a very kind price! This is a good option for those who want go to several events, or wants to bring a friend to a concert, or give away tickets as a present.
Single tickets is perfect for everyone and available for all our events.
All our tickets come in 3 different price categories:
Ordinær: Our standard ticket – still a good price for a lot of music
Honnør/BT-fordel/Bergen Kunsthall/nyMusikk: Benefit- og membership card to be shown by the door together with the ticket. Honnør is for those over 67 years.
Student/ungdom/barn/BLC: Students, kids or youth ages 4–20. Members of Borealis Listening Club also get the cheapest price. Student card to be shown at the door together with the tickets.
Kids 0–4 years: Free on all Borealis-events , except those events targeted specifically at this age group.
If you have Aktivitetskortet given by Bergen kommune you + 1 can access all events free of charge. Please note that there might be age limits on some events. Book your free tickets by sending your request for events to billett@borealisfestival.no and you’ll receive your tickets by e-mail before the event. Please show your Aktivitetskort by the door together with the ticket.
Borealis welcomes Companion Certificate. Ordinary ticket is purchased, and it is then free access for the companion. Borealis is part of the event book Lysløypa and offer 2 tickets for the price of 1 to owners of this book. Buy one ticket and send a copy to billett@borealisfestival.no, and we will send you back another free ticket. Please show your Lysløypa book by the door together with the tickets.
You can buy the book by dropping by our office in Strandgaten 207, at our events or online.
The doors open 30 min. before announced concert or event start. Please show up in time to avoid queuing.
In the case of cancellation, ticket buyers will be contacted by e-mail or phone, as given when buying the tickets.
Tickets are refunded if an event gets cancelled.

We want to help you access all venues, but unfortunately not all venues are equipped with the same level of accessibility.
Below here in the section Venues you can read specific info on each venue. This liste will be updated alongside the launch of program.

Borealis have non-gendered toilet facilities at all venues.

Infection Control
Borealis is following all rules and regulations given by the health authorities and government for all public events.
We ask that our audience are considerate and show solidarity with their fellow humans when coming to an event and respect other peoples wish to keep a distance. Wash you hands, be friendly and kind and stay at home and get tested if you feel unwell and have symptoms of Covid-19.
You’ll find hand disinfection in all our venues.
There is enough space in all our venues making it easy to keep a safe distance.
Age Limit
We use a lot of different venues for our events, and some of these might have age limits. But Borealis is for everyone, so you just need to be accompanied by an adult over 23 years, who then fills out the Guardian form.
All age limits are specified in teh section Venues below.
The guardian must have their own ticket as well.
Hotel
Borealis uses the local hotel chain De Bergenske as our Festival Hotels: Augustin Hotel, Grand Hotel Terminus or Hotel Zander K. All hotels are located centrally in Bergen and they offer a special price for visiting guests.

Venues Borealis 2022
Borealis doesn’t have one permanent venue where we present our festival, but you’ll find us all over town!
Here you’ll find specific info on each of our venues. This list will be updated along the launch of program, so new venues are added.
All venues will be well marked so you can find us! Several places serve refreshments so you can have a drink before and after the event. We are helpful in accessing all venues, but unfortunately not all venues are yet designed for easy access for everyone. Borealis have non-gendered toilet facilities at all venues.

AERIAL (C. Sundts gate 38)

Aerial is an artist-run space with a focus on socially engaged art practices. Aerial was set up in February 2020 by four artists William Kudahl, Gentian Meikleham, Laurie Lax and Stacy Brafield and is currently run by Laurie Lax, Stacy Brafield and Kaeto Sweeney. Together, their interests orbit around care, conversation, food, pedagogy, production and publishing. Aerial invites you to pop by to have a chat.

BEK – BERGEN CENTRE FOR ELECTRONIC ARTS (C. Sundts gate 55)

BEK – Bergen Centre for Electronic Arts is an interdisciplinary production centre for art and new technology, established in 2000. BEK develops, produces and communicates projects in the intersection of contemporary art, technology, theory and social critique.

BERGEN DOMKIRKE (Domkirkeplassen 1)

Bergen Cathedral is nearly 900 years old. It started as a church dedicated to Olav the Holy, Norway’s patron saint, around year 1150. Bergen Cathedral has a long and turbulent history – the church was heavily damaged by fire both in 1248 and in 1270, as well as having been hit by a canon ball in 1665 which you can still notice in the spire. It also holds an organ with 61 stops, and multiple of the larger Church choirs of Bergen.

BERGEN INTERNASJONALE KULTURSENTER (Kong Oscars gate 15)

Bergen International Culture Center was founded in 1993 as a meeting point for immigrant organizations in Hordaland. Now 26 years later, the center has 70 member organizations, and is an important place for inclusion and cultural exchange in Bergen.

BERGEN KJØTT (Skutevikstorget 1)

Bergen Kjøtt is the workplace of about 100 of Bergens professional artists and musicians of different genres. Until the 2000s the house was an operating meat factory, but from 2010 after it had stood empty for several years, it has been reinvented and refurnished to be an important cultural institution in the city.

BERGEN KUNSTHALL & LANDMARK (Rasmus Meyers Allé 5)

The building, which houses both Bergen Kunsthall, Landmark and a nice bookstore, was designed by architect Ole Landmark in the 1930s. Landmark is Bergen Kunsthall’s own café, bar, project room, concert scene and night club, and is a popular place for coffee breaks with an everchanging lunch meny with local produce.
Refreshments: Landmark has a rich selection of food and drink, and is open before, during and after events.
Wheelchair: During the day there is access from the shortside of the building, call the bell, and someone will come and open. During the evening events at Landmark, there are doormen outside the front door who are ready to help wheelchair users enter the glass door to the right of the main entrance.

BERGEN OFFENTLIGE BIBLIOTEK (Strømgaten 6)

Our beautiful public library is centrally located between the train station and Bergen Storsenter. This is a popular place for the city’s population to gather for event activity all year.
Refreshments: Amalies Hage – a nice café and bar in the library that serves light meals, coffee and has a good selection of juice

BERGEN SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE (Sjøgaten 59-61a)

Bergen School of Architecture was established in 1986, and is now located in Sandviken. They have transformed a previous industrial property with a grain elevator and deep water berth, into studios and workshops for the school. For the event Resonant Silence we’ll invite you into the basement of the amazing building.
Please bring a warm coat, gloves and your hat, as it can be cold in March down there.

CHRISTINEGAARD HOVEDGAARD (Formannsvei 3)

You find Christinegaard Hovedgaard like a nostalgic pearl on the top of Sandviken in Bergen, with beautiful view over the fjord. The building is believed to have originated as a prosperous summer house, built around 1763 and rebuilt in the 1830’s. Today the building and its surrounding garden is used as a venue for celebrations, culture arena and café.

CINEMATEKET I BERGEN (Georgernes Verft 12)

Cinemateket i Bergen is situated at USF Verftet, and is a cinema focusing on what they call essential film history and film art. The foundation was established in 1992 with the purpose to promote and increase the knowledge of an interest in audio visual media as art and entertainment in a historic perspective. The room itself has 92 seats and was newly renovated.
Refreshments: You can take food and drinks from Kafé Kippers next door into the cinema.

KULTURHUSET I BERGEN (Vaskerelven 8)

The brand new culture house in Bergen opened its doors in 2021, and has since then invited to a varied and comprehensive programme, with everything from concerts with international and national artists, to art exhibitions, club events, dance shows and workshops.
Refreshments: Kulturhuset’s own restaurant offers a varied menu, especially well stocked on vegetarian and vegan food – everything with a green and sustainable focus.

LYDGALLERIET (Strandgaten 195)

Originally initiated by a group of musicians, sound artists and art historians almost 15 years ago, Lydgalleriet is now Norway’s only permanent exhibition space for sound art.

NORDNES SJØBAD (Nordnesparken 30)

The historical Nordnes Sjøbad is situated in Nordnes Park, not far from the Aquarium, and is a 25 metre outdoor salt water pool kept lovely and warm at a temperature of 30°C (84°F), and where you can also take a refreshing dip in the sea. Their facilities also include a children’s pool and a warm sauna.
Refreshments: Cold and warm drinks, and light food

Wheelchair: Wheelchair elevator. Easiest access to the Sjøbad is by car, since the pool is situated on a steep hill. If you want help with the elevator you can phone Nordnes Sjøbad on + 47 46904965 (only accessible in the opening hours). There is no facilitated wardrobe or rails for swimming.

Public transport: Bus 11 can be taken to Sjøfarendes Aldershjem which is 1 minute away. Otherwise getting out to the Nordnes tip is a lovely walk.

NYKIRKEN (Strandgaten 197 B)

Under the floors of Nykirken there still lays the ruins of the old archbishop’s manor dating back to the end of 11th Century. On these ruins the church was built in 1621, and has since then been touched by both fires and explosions. Especially the church’s spire has been rebuilt multiple times, but the white and green spire has now gotten its peace since the last rebuild in 1955.

NYKIRKEN MENIGHETSHUS (Fredriksbergsgaten 4)

Nykirken menighetshus is one of two parish houses which belong to Bergen domkirke. On a regular basis it houses a kindergarten, as well as being rented out for different gatherings like baptismal services, meeting and other social events.

SLETTEBAKKEN KIRKE (Vilhelm Bjerknes vei 31)

Slettebakken Church was built between 1968–1970 and is designed by the architect Tore Several. The Church has a fan like shape which, seen from some angles, gives association to a boat and its tall mast reaching for the sky. The architect created in his time a modern church, in concrete and with a copper roof, which at first got a lot of scepticism from the municipality in Bergen. However, the congregation’s representatives praised the style, especially because it suited their wishes to make space for children and youth activities.

STUDIO 207 (Strandgaten 207)

Studio 207 is placed in-between the offices of Borealis and Piksel – festival for electronic art and free technology. Since 2020 the two festivals have collaborated on curating the content of the space, and filled the room with anything from workshops and exhibitons to concerts and listening clubs, all year around.

UNIVERSITETSAULAEN

The new University Aula in Bergen opened in 2015 and is the grand hall for the University of Bergen and for Western Norway. The University Aula is located in the newly renovated south wing of the Natural History Museum and can seat around 350 people. The Aula hosts large occasions involving the University community, in addition to external organizations being able to organize debates, cluture events and conferences.
