.

Meet our new Producers!

Aistė Žumbakyte and Malin Nøss Vangsnes is our new production team! Aistė is widely experienced, and has worked as Producer and Managing Director for the new music concert series Avgarde. Malin is educated as a dancer, works as a producer within dance and music, and is passionate about making productions feel logical to all.

Catherine Lamb’s liminal space

“(…)the most powerful and elusive music I hear during the festival. (…)The music blossoms endlessly, fluid sound billowing outward like a deathless flower forever producing fresh petals.” Catherine Lamb’s inter-spatia described by music journalist Peter Margasak for The Wire Magazine. This beautiful piece of music written for four trombones and three tubas can now be relived through a sum-up video of the project and recording from the premiere.

Podcast: Talking Experiments

Talking Experiments is Borealis’ podcast where we dig into the wonderful minds of the artists at the festival. Listen to podcast host Jennifer Torrence in conversation with Espen Sommer Eide, Catherine Lamb and Kristine Tjøgersen about subjects spanning Rational Intonation to instrument building, and also catch Season 1 with podcast host Christine Meldgaard talking to Pulitzer Prize Winner Raven Chacon amongst others.

Look back

16 – 20 March Borealis took over Bergen, and small and large experiments created life in the city’s many venues! We would like to thank all the adventurous souls who came to the festival, all the musicians, composers and artists who contributed with their projects and ideas, all the wonderful partners both in Bergen and abroad, and our financial supporters.
